91fans's has hosted a wealth of informal lunchtime and evening concerts this term and the whole school community is looking forward to the two Services in Preparation for Christmas at 91fans's College Chapel thisÌýweek. In the week prior to these Services talentedÌýmusiciansÌýacross Senior HouseÌýperformed this year's Piazza Brass concert. Our musicians and music teachers alike donned festive jumpers, hats and sparkling tinsel to create a festive atmosphere with some even draping the instruments themselves.
After Wind Band had performed their pieces, Big Band added to the festive spirit by performingÌýHome AloneÌýbyÌýJohn Williams arr. Leslie Briccuse and All I want for ChristmasÌýby Mariah Carey (arr. Michael Brown). Rednotes ensemble performedÌýNight by Night by Steely Dan (arr, Ollie Lepage-Dean) and Zara Larsson's Lush LifeÌý(arr. Ollie Lepage-Dean). Two Form 6 vocalists performed during these songs and delighted the audience with their duet:ÌýLove is an Open Door by Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez.
"The children were absolutely brilliant atÌýlistening to one another. It is sometimes tricky when there is no bass players involved in a band, but they kept the tempo going really well. It is the first time that the children played with a drum machine."
"I performed in Wind BandÌýand it went really well with the audience smiling throughout! It was also great to watch the other pieces too as we hadn't heard them until the actual concert. I think everyone went away feeling in a Christmas mood."
